4.  Drink some green tea. Green tea extract has the ability to increase a person’s energy expenditure and fat oxidation, according to a study published in the December 1999 issue of The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. In this study, it has been shown that green tea has catechin polyphenols and caffeine, two active ingredients that can increase energy metabolism and fat degradation within the body.  However, there is one special precaution in the use of green tea extract for weight loss: patients with hypertension should be cautious in drinking this tea concoction because of the possible increase in blood pressure  it can potentially cause.  If you are hypertensive to start with and you are thinking about drinking green tea to get rid of some excess fats, it is better to talk with your health care provider first.
