The winter season is the time of the year that most people enjoy because of the holidays and the cold weather it brings.  But for some people who want to lose some weight, it is the most difficult time of the year. Of course, holidays wouldn’t be that fun and enjoyable without the delicious and mouth-watering foods and that’s the most difficult part for dieters, to resist eating. In addition, the weather itself gives you the feeling of grabbing some mac and cheese out of the fridge. Isn’t that frustrating?

A study shows that the average seasonal weight gain for some people during the winter season is about 5 to 7 pounds. Also some people may develop seasonal affective disorder which is a form of depression that usually occurs during winter. A study concludes that depression can highly contribute to overeating.

But believe it or not, it is possible for you to avoid gaining weight during the winter season. All you need to do is to keep your mind set on your goal and have a proper discipline on yourself. Here are some helpful tips on how to avoid winter weight gain.

Plan Your Workout Exercises

It is important to list down the schedule of your regular exercises and strictly comply with it. Once it is written, you can easily comply and remind yourself about your exercise routine. If you plan ahead of time, you can easily organize your schedule and prevent yourself from procrastinating. The best thing about planning is that it keeps you more dedicated. It makes you feel that it is a responsibility that you need to accomplish every single day. Although the weather itself can hinder you from exercising, once it is scheduled and planned out perfectly, the weather would not win over your desire and determination to exercise.

Watch What You Eat

We all know that it would be very difficult to resist eating especially during the holidays, but it is always important to keep in mind that it is a must to always watch what you eat. Eating during these times is not prohibited at all! You don’t need to starve yourself. You can still eat and enjoy the foods that you love as long as it is in the right amount. Recording of your daily food intake would keep you aware of the amount or quantity that you are ingesting. By this, you can monitor whether you are eating too much or not, thus preventing weight gain. It is also better if you are aware of the calories that you are ingesting so that it would be easier for you to control what you eat.

The bottom line is- it is okay to eat as long as it is in moderate amount and in accordance to your diet plan.

Commit Yourself

No matter how planned your exercises are or how aware you are on what you are eating, it will never work if you are not committed to what you do. Commitment is very important in order to achieve your goal. The more dedicated you are to what you do, the nearer you are in achieving that goal. Especially during winter wherein temptations are everywhere, your commitment would be the most important armour you can ever have. Once you have it, winter weight gain will not be an issue for you at all and you can still enjoy the winter season without compromising your weight.
