Non-weight bearing activities

Having a hard time lifting yourself? Do you feel stiffness in your joints every time you walk or take a jog? Don’t lose heart. There is still something you can do that can never make you feel sluggish at all. Tried swimming and working out in water? These activities can lessen the stress in your joints because it does not require lifting yourself up. In fact, exercising in water is one of the most recommended activities for people with arthritis and other joint problems.

Lifestyle activities

If you always have someone in the house who does everything for you, then now is the time to do it all by yourself. Try fixing and maintaining your garden on a regular basis. Instead of putting your car in the car wash, why not do it yourself? It will help you save a lot of money and make you more physically fit at the same time. Lifestyle activities are simply great because they do not require a lot of planning and it can save you a lot of cash too.

Walking

The simple walking activity can help you burn more calories than you usually do. And it can improve your physical fitness as well. If you feel tired all the time, try walking and moving around and see how these simple activities can boost your energy level.

Afraid to start because you think it can make you feel mighty tired afterwards?

Try starting it easy. Start walking five minutes every single day for your first week. Then, after a week gradually increase your number of minutes. After a week or so, try lengthening your comfortable walking time. Once you have totally adjusted to the routine, why not try making your walks faster or make it longer?

This dancing procedure is called chair dancing and it is designed for people who are having problems with their weight-bearing joints. In chair dancing, all you have to do it more your upper body to the beat while moving your arms and legs at the same time.

Workouts in the water

Working out in the water is a nonweight-bearing activity.It can make you more flexible. And it can reduce your chances of having injuries too.  Water workouts do not need swimming skills.  You can choose to do it in shallow water wherein the level of the water is only up to your chest only. But if you want to do your exercise in deeper water levels, use a life jacket for safety.

Do I need to inform my doctor or my health care provider before starting my physical activities?

Yes. Receiving a go signal from your physician is a must if you want to start working out. Why? Because there are some certain precautions and contraindications in some patients that needs to be cleared out.
