Eat Slowly to Decrease Caloric Intake

Published:February 9th, 2011

In a recent article published by HealthDay News, it was mentioned that eating slowly can decrease your overall caloric intake during a meal. Here are some simple, easy-to-follow tips that can help you decrease your food consumption:

1. Replace your eating utensils on the table in between bites and try to savor each bite you take. Putting back your utensils in between bites buys time, helping your satiety center, the part of your brain that says you have eaten enough,  analyze how many calories are loaded within each of your bite.

2. Use a pair of chopsticks for eating instead of your usual eating utensils. A pair of chopsticks can only pick a smaller chunk of food and thus, there will be lesser calories with each bite.

3. Chew your food thoroughly and completely between each bite.

4. Make sure you have some good interruptions between bites such as small talks and some socialization.
